Day 21. Take two characters in your novel who are not together during the course of your story, and write them as a pairing in a fanfic of your novel

The day was cloudy, the rain was near and Kam knew it for how heavy the air turned. She was far from her group because the traces when was following, it was an easy task that whoever from her breed could do it, however she did for the connection she felt with the five breeds.

When the first drop fell, she found a little cave so she took cover immediately. Kam walked to the deepest part looking for menacing cave owners or a place where she could made a fire that didn’t attract visitors from any kind; to her misfortune, the place wasn’t good for it so she just stayed in the depths cursing the water, just how a Children of the Fire could do it.

The night fall and the rain didn’t stopped, Kam was feeling anxious about her people but was more worried of Mynthae because his plan of being in the sight of the Magicless while his companions retrieve some of the Relics.

Her thoughts were interrupted when the echo in the cave made her notice the new arriving. Taking her knife out, Kam walked to the entrance in complete silence observing the shadow of the intruder who was shaking the head for the water in it. Kam noticed, for the type of body, that was a man with some weapons in his belt.

Walking slowly, she approached until he pronounced illegible words that made the water from his clothes levitate until a sphere was formed, he made the sphere went outside where it dissolved. Kam cursed again catching the attention of the crystal.

“You…” while her word sounded as an insult, his was like a sigh. He was Wuem, the leader of the Children of the Water outside from the Home, she saw him a few times in the past before he went to their waterfalls but when she took the leadership in the outside, five years later, she found him so many times without asking for it, that both could read the mood of the other.

“What’s the matter? Your kind loves rain, don’t they?” Kam walked to the depths again, Wuem followed her in silence.

“Of course, but your kind enter the flames because of their love to their father?” and that was what Kam hated the most about those, they’re really wise and loved to play with the words making them look like the people was dumb or falling in a trap.

Kam let a sigh came out trying to keep her rage inside, Mynthae and his sisters always told her that she didn’t need to hate them but it was written on her blood the impatience for them. “Oh, how much I hate you among your people, thanks to The Fire that the Children of the Wind are so strong that kept my soul in peace”

“Speaking of which, Mynthae…”

“Yes, I know it” Kam crossed her arms and rested her back on the wall while closing her eyes.

Without looking she knew that Wuem didn’t feel bad for the response she gave it, she could pictured him with a relaxed expression as if he thought that she couldn’t control her own behavior. Kam’s mood worsened.

For hours the rain kept falling, Kam dozed off some minutes because of the long way she had to travel; even so she felt uneasy for being in the same cave that the crystal, maybe his facade was of a trusting man, gentle and wise, but she couldn’t stand everything of it like it was false.

“What do you expect me to do if you fall sleep? Drown you? I’m not interested in breaking the weak bond of our breeds” he wasn’t watching her, he was the closest to the exit he could, just to listen to the rain noise.

“Not really, I just can’t trust specially you” Kam rested her head on the wall, the anxiety in her grew as the rain increased its intensity. “Then, I’m gonna sleep” surprised by his words, the artisan saw him lay down facing her. “What? Maybe you can’t, but I don’t care”

Wuem closed his eyes leaving Kam without believing what he said and what she saw; either he was too carefree or he really trusted her. For some seconds she really saw him: his blue hair was something she never liked but the crystal likes in it always interested her for the curiosity about how they felt like, he had four in the back of his head and one shiny in the left side of his head; his eyes were the other thing that interested her because of the pale blue in them, at first Kam thought that he was blind, then she considered them as disgusting but lately she believed his eyes looked as the moonlight.

Shaking her head, Kam tried to erase those thoughts. He was a Children of the Water, her natural enemy, and because of that, nothing in him should be interesting.

The night fall while the rain continued, again she dozed off until the cold soaked through her bones making her shrunk while speaking to her Father for warmth. Wuem awakened for the same, Kam felt superior noticing that the crystal embraced himself to keep his own warmth because his element wasn’t useful for that.

“Well… I’m hungry” after saying that, Wuem stood up and walk to the exit, the artisan watched him without saying a word, she distinguished the dry steps from the ones he took under the rain. Somehow she felt calm and lonely, however the feel last until he came back with four fishes hanging from his hand. “Want some?”

He sat in the same spot he was, his body was completely dry as if the rain wasn’t falling outside. “If you can evade the rain, why are you here?”

“If I kept me dry till my group, I would need to rest every five hours” Kam accepted one of the fishes, she used her fire to cook it but when he saw Wuem eating his own raw, she felt so nauseous that walked to him snatching his fish to give him hers. “Never do that again in front of me”.

With genuine surprise in his eyes, he smiled slowly “I won’t ever forget it, be sure of that”. Kam threw him a tiny rock she found beside her, he easily dodged it while biting his food.

They’re finishing their food when the ice started to fall from the sky making the cold increased. Wuem left the cave again after ten minutes the hail started, this time Kam felt more anxious than lonely.

When he came back, he was soaking. Again he shook his body to released the water but this time he almost lost his balance. “Glad that they’re just three” he said while sitting in his usual spot. “Three what?”.

Wuem looked at her, firstly with surprise and then with understanding. “Sorry, I forgot you couldn’t notice it”. Again he embraced himself “Three magicless were near from here, I took care of them”.

She was noticing what was weird with him but when he heard his reasons, the fire in her grew along with her rage. She hated being protected without asking for it, and now that a Children of the Water did it, her pride and honor was dirtied. When she left the cave, the hail had stopped and the rain decreased.

Alone, without caring for the drizzle, she walked as fast as she could. Now she had a debt she never asked and was with the deceiver leader of the crystals; the food was one little thing that paid when she cooked the meat but this was completely different. She could fed her pride keeping the secret to both, but it dirtied her honor so she’d need to speak to him when her anger lowered.

That way she found herself walking to the territory of the crystals four days later. She couldn’t contact him through the normal way the leaders made, so she felt again mad at him for making her show up in his place.

The women called Quia received her while the rest of the crystals stayed at defensive position in the surroundings. “Where’s your leader? Tell him to meet me”. The woman looked troubled, at first Kam thought it was for her bossy behavior. “Our leader is on the Waterfalls, I doubt he would be able to meet you”

“Why is it? Tell that coward to came out or I will go”. The murmurings from the crystals almost made her smile knowing how offensive her words were. “Follow me then, he said this could happen”

Kam followed her till the waterfalls were she made her wait while Quia went for her leader inside of their all home. Every minute it passed, her angry grew until he showed along with his subordinate who left him to return to their group.

All the words and insults she thought were forgotten when she noticed the state of Wuem. He sat in the first dry rock he found in the woods, he was sick and weak. His eyes were red, his skin pale and the coughs came out quite frequently. “What? The water made you sick?”

“Ironic, isn’t it?” he smiled weakly. “I’m sorry for this kind of view but I guessed that you wouldn’t be calm if I told you to come back later”. Again her fire grew inside of her, all the control she worked out the past days, broke. “Stop that! You don’t know me and I don’t need your help or anything from you or your kind; I kept the peace just for the whisperers but when the breeds separate again, I’m gonna crush you”.

“Then let me know you”. For a second her rage decreased with the upcoming confusion his words created; Wuem was the serious his sickness let him be. “What?” she asked trying to cool down.
“Let me know you” he stood up and walked again to the waterfalls. “Come”.

Her pride made her stay in the same place until a unknown reason made her follow him inside of the home of their ancestors. She finally understood the meaning of her interest in some parts of him, however she wasn’t still sure of it. At least that’s how it was the first three months.

Day 20. Take a secondary character, and write a one-page synopsis of his or her or hir story, during the course of the novel. What’s going on with this person that we might not have to know about?

For this one I chose Altea, a Magicless, but I’m not so sure about what does the part ‘that we might not have to know about’ means. Either way I’m doing the synopsis about him.

As I said, Altea is a full Magicless; he born in a family of farmers which is common that they live outside of the walls that protects communities of rich Magicless. He grew learning about his parents job because he was supposed to follow them; however, when he was ten years old, a group of Vigilants passed between their fields in order to reunite with the rich ones who were looking for protection for a trip.

The end of that trip left four of the Vigilants in the community with the new job about training of the Magicless servants. Altea went to all the sessions and watched from outside because he was too young but he never lost his time, he trained alone until he was fourteen. He left his family and went looking for one of the Vigilants squads or someone who told him where to join them. His search led him to some dangerous situations till, one day, he was found by them and had the opportunity to show them his worthy.

In the middle of the central forest, Altea found himself surrounded by a little group of antiques trying to look like thieves; it was when he discovered them that he started to fight back instead of running. Being alone was able to just kill one and disable three till the help appeared in the moment he was almost losing. The Vigilants saved and praised him for his strength and good sense to differentiate the antiques of the magicless so they asked him to become one of them; he didn’t need to think about it.

After that he trained as hard as possible to became one of the best fighters at his young age, that way he won his place as the right hand of Histch, the leader of the second division of the Vigilants. His achievements increased by the time.

When he was eighteen, he was considered the new prospect of leadership, however he couldn’t care less about it because his only goal was to trap all the antiques and bring peace to his people who were tormented by the lonely thought of the madness, disrespect and criminal actions of the nine breeds, at least the survivors of the ones who killed their people one hundred and sixteen years ago.

One day, after losing a battle against an antique and almost losing his master Histch, he was entrusted with the task of hunting down that miserable antique, seize and bring him to his master in order to force the strong bastard to fight for the magicless while killing his own people.

Altea started his journey through the vast continent pursuing the antique called Mynthae, without caring for the lives lost in the persecution, just blaming them on the antique, he fought him over and over again angering every time the murder and destruction appeared after every step his prey gave.

Until one day, seven months afterwards his task was set, Mynthae couldn’t run anymore. Altea found himself angry because of the weakness of the man who stopped the chase and sad because if he wasn’t a antique, they could have been good friends.

Day 19. Write the worst thing that could happen to your protagonist that doesn’t happen in the novel

This made me laugh and it shouldn’t… I’m a mean writer, I always make my characters suffer in one way or another… Anyway, let me think…

Mynthae have a rough path to follow. One of the worst things that didn’t happen could be that he never accepted the leadership from his people and run away from them without caring if they are safe or not, including his sister; that could made him walk away from his predestined path of heroism. That way, if he’s really bad, he would ally with the Magicless in order to kill Antiques!

Oh no, my dear Tael is not bad… now you know it Tael.

Day 18. 500 words about a topic your character knows better than you do

Hello, I’m Vonaxie and because my creator wasn’t sure about the request in this particularly day I was asked to do it alone. At first I didn’t understand why me but then I get the answer and it’s because I’m the one who knows the most about the breeds thanks to the books and information that mister Pesto showed me.

It’s said that more than three thousand years ago, the Core created this world with our elements parents, among the flora and fauna from every corner. The peace reigned for many more years until our elements parents noticed that they needed help to embellish and keep the world in harmony so they asked to the Core children who fulfill those requirements and thus the Core made them.

The first ones were the four children of the ones who gave the idea and knew exactly what they wanted so the Children of the fire, the earth, the wind and the water born blessed with abilities for the sake of their parents. The next ones who asked for their children were the stars and the animals making the Dream Hunters and the Ferals as unique as the others. Being a little bit late, the ice asked for its own guardians because the water couldn’t understand all its needs.

With the seven breeds born, the world began to shine and prosper, the Core was satisfied with its creations until the thought of a new breed came while thinking that they needed another more who would support, with the strongest shoulders, the powers of the first seven children so it made the Bones.

That way, with the eighth children, the world grew more and more beautiful for twenty years. Everyone talked with the Core about how proud they were with their children, how obedient they were and how beautiful they were transforming the environment; however the Core started to notice that all the power from the children was covering in shadows their hearts when the distance between them shortened, so it decided to create the last one of the breeds, the ones whose perfect presence in the world would clean the evilness and bring the balance back. The purest of the children born as the Healers.

Having consumed most of its energy, the Core reunited the parents one more time to warn them that the hearts of the children couldn’t be completely purified for the free will they gave them so they needed to be isolated until their minds mature enough to coexist without the predicaments about the most powerful of them.

The Core said goodbye to its children giving them their homes and territories, then it became quiet. The elements parents knew that their children needed to grow by themselves so they taught them the last part of their abilities before they stopped talking to them.

The nine breeds became independent, they learnt by themselves how to fulfill their parents' wishes, they stayed away from each other for most than three hundred years.

Day 17. Why are you excited about this novel? Is it a specific character, a scene you want to get to, are you writing in a genre you haven’t tried yet?

In the beginning I was excited about this particular story because I dreamt the first scene that lead me to the complete idea, some days later I dreamt another three scenes made for this story so I started the complete development of this along with the writing.

Another reason for my excitement is that I’d never before created a complete world as this one in which more than a race or type of humans live. I’m really proud of what I created with the Antiques’ breeds: their names, the appearance, their abilities, their homes, their traditions and organization. I even drew and made a map!

I love the characters I’ve made so far, even if I haven’t introduced them in the best form, I’m happy with them.

There are a lot of scenes I really want to show, there are some which I thought since the very beginning so they kept me writing.

Day 16. Find a book by a favourite author. Open the book to page 16. Choose a line from page 16, and write it as a starting point of a scene in the world of your novel that will not end up in the novel

She felt it like she was witnessing a crucial moment, although she couldn’t say why. Mynthae was speaking with the Children of the Water in a way she never saw in no one else, that people with cold eyes and emotionless words were really listening to all the boy had to say with something different from distrust.

Mynthae alone knew the words the crystals would listen to, that way they were able to introduce themselves and made them consider their plan about gathering the remaining Antiques free in an alliance powerful enough to free the ones trapped in The War and, then, fight against the Magicless.

Emisya felt kind of satisfied about how Vonaxie and she expressed their ideas because even if the crystals decide to stay hidden, they would known that the effort was done and, maybe, new ideas for persuasion would be find.

With that in her mind, she let the eight Children of the Water left their sight in order to discuss in privacy their thoughts. However, her mind lost its peace when Mynthae left to the opposite side that the other group took; since his part in the friendly treat ended, he returned to his usual silence although it looked to Emisya as something different in a way she couldn’t explain.

Firstly she noticed the unease the boy felt when the leader from the crystals showed in front of him; then, when he claimed “the mist”, the whisperer looked kind of calm with just a little bit of unease still in him. At the end of the conversation, when they decided to take their time to talk, his serenity broke down making him looked a bit angered.

Vonaxie was always amazed by how she read the cold whisperer and even she was equally surprised without a clue of how that was possible considering the few days she had knowing him. It wasn’t because his face was an open book, she thought that it could be because she felt his aura change or something related with her half breed origin.

That aura was the thing that made her think about the crucial moment in their lives, she felt the variations in it in a way too hard to explain even if she was almost sure of what she felt. Those things were the ones which made her believe that her other half of her blood wasn’t a lie.

Day 15. Describe your plan for writing. How many words in a day, what are you using as a bribery or reward system, what are you worried about distracting you from writing?

First of all, this story I used to write it when I was in school, in the middle of the classes when I should have been paying attention. In those times my only plan was to write as much as the class let me so I wrote like three pages (notebook pages) in a day if I was lucky, but in the busy days I just wrote something like three paragraphs (like 50-100 words).

I don’t use rewards or nothing of the kind because write itself is a reward for me and I was really organized with this one.

I was worried about the classes distracting me (and it should be the other way around). BUT the thing that always, always, always worried me while writing anything is creating something new. I mean, I been writing for more than ten years and it always happens that when I’m making progress with a story, some other start in my mind until I let the first to keep the second, that way I’d left like eight stories without end… It’s really frustrating, I love my creativity but I hate leaving them endless.

And when I’m writing in the computer is tumblr or something else my distractions, always the Internet.

Day 14. Review your novel as if it’s already written and you’re a nobody. Give it a good review

This story is great and full of magic, the places are something that I wish they exist. Every chapter leave you wishing for more, making you read and read until you realize how late it is.

The main characters are so unique, they grow along with the story and you feel it, even you can find attractive some of the secondary characters of who I wish I knew more. Besides the plot has some amazing radical changes that made it more interesting.

I hope we get more information about the past events or The War, maybe the things that happened far from the protagonist.

martes, 3 de enero de 2017

Day 13. Review your novel, as if it’s already written, and you’re a famous author. Give it a bad review

The narrative started pretty clear and fluid, but since the fourth chapter the quality decreased leaving disconnected paragraphs and sloppy ideas which difficulted the reading flow.

Some characters lack of development and don’t have an outstanding personality that differentiated them enough, plus most of them were nameless even if they were, at first sight, an important part of the story.

What concern of the genre, the abilities lack of originality and the settings are not enough described to create a true image in my mind.
